On January 21, Book ReViews presented $2500 to Harvey County Habitat for Humanity and $2500 to Offender Victims Ministries.

Offender/Victim Ministries (OVM) emphasizes justice, accountability, and caring in working with people affected by crime. OVM currently works with over 30 individuals in victim offender conferencing, anger management, and shoplifter education programs, reported Libby Schrag Oswald. She explained, “Because OVM advocates that offender resources be first and foremost available to victims deserving compensation for their losses, some of our programs do not require a fee. This donation will help us meet our expenses for these services.”

Habitat has already built 5 houses for low income families in Harvey County. President Gary Hill said, “Recently Habitat got access to two lots and hopes to be able to build two houses this year.” Most of the work on these houses will be done by volunteers.
During 2010, the 2009 Book ReViews profits will be distributed to Harvey County charities.
Book ReViews welcomes book donations and additional volunteers.
